5/1/08 Meeting Minutes

A meeting of the Club was held at 6PM at the NYS Republican Committee Headquarters.

In attendance were: Paul Jamison, Dave Ricks, Beth Sacks, and Ed Lass

A discussion was held regarding communication to the Club members and others who are subscribed to the CapitalYR Yahoo group. Ed created a new design for the capitalYR.com website. Paul and Ed agreed to work out a solution for a minimal communication channel for those folks who would prefer to receive fewer posts, but still want to be alerted to Club meetings and events. See Special Announcement for details of the new plan.

Nominations and elections for officer posts were held. The newly elected officers are:

Chairman- Paul Jamison

Vice-Chairman- Dave Ricks

Secretary- Beth Sacks

Paul appointed Ed as the Parliamentarian.

A wide ranging discussion was held on building membership and getting the Club involved in campaigning. A decision was made to hold a membership recruitment event in approximately 2 months. We will try to get a representative from the McCain campaign to be there both as a draw and as a way to get people involved right away. Beth agreed to contact potential venues. In the meantime, we need to build a list of potential members to invite. A number of avenues will be explored:

1- Doing a mailing to a targeted subset of individuals identified from voter registration lists from the BOEs.

2- Outreach to various county/town committees, and to graduating CRs who might be in the area.

3- Facebook ad targeting 20 something conservatives in Albany network.

4- Re-activating former members.

5- Other suggestions are welcome.

There are lots of exciting campaigns to be working on for the fall. In addition to the presidential race, the 20th and 21st CDs both look to be interesting and important for Republicans. I’m sure there will also be Senate, Assembly and perhaps a few local races which will also be looking for support. I’d really like for the Club to make a strong impact this fall. We’ll need everybody’s support to make it happen.
